Moving Freight More Efficiently
The U.S. economy depends on the efficient movement of trucks to transport the goods we use in our daily lives. Some of these goods travel by air, rail and ships, but used trucks transporting still complements 70 percent of our freight.
The problem we're facing is volume. Truck traffic is currently growing 11 times faster than road capacity, and the U.S. Department of Transportation estimates that freight hauled by trucks in the U.S. will double by 2035. We must find ways to move freight more efficiently. But the question is how.
What are the challenges, and what solutions are already out there that we should consider?
